Obtaining & Maximising Resources Managing Aid Assistance

Overview

While every development initiative is unique, there are skills involved in design and delivery which can be transferred, and systems and structures that are capable of being amended and adapted to meet the needs of individual countries. When effectively applied, they can significantly reduce many of the difficulties currently encountered in seeking aid assistance and delivering projects using external funding. This two-week programme is designed to give an independent, practical approach to obtaining the resources needed for development initiatives and how to use them effectively to ensure sustainability.

Learning objectives
You will be able to:

· Review experience in developing proposals and delivering projects
· Compare and contrast examples of weakness and best practice elsewhere
· Improve design and achieve more effective delivery of development and reform initiatives, particularly those funded by external donors
· Propose systems and strategies for success
· Manage externally funded development programmes more efficiently
· Engage in practical exercises and role play sessions which include negotiating skills, project planning and monitoring and evaluation processes
· Learn through contributions from donors and funders, external consultants and NGOs, by exploring their perceptions, experiences and expectations
